Like most of us, you probably made resolutions for the new year. As a businessperson you probably  resolved to increase your profits. One way to do this is to find ways to inject something new into your business. An idea that has worked well for gift basket designers is a Basket of the Month program. It works like this:

 


1. Design a basket appropriate for the season.
2. Keep the price affordable and the same from month to month.
3. Make it clear to your clients that this design will not be customized.

There are several advantages of a Basket of the Month program:

1. Since you decide on the design you can use inventory that is surplus or slow-moving.
2. You give your clients an affordable choice that is also appropriate for the season.
3. For clients who order multiples each month, this design gives them something different at the same price.
4. Because clients don't know what the new design will be each month, you create excitement and anticipation.

5. Many business clients will opt for this design since it's usually a bargain and takes out the guess work.
 
In order for this to work well, of course, you must promote it heavily on your website and mailings. You could even have a teaser put on the back of your business card, "Ask me about our Basket of the Month program."
