The gift baskets I created in the first year of my gift basket business were pitiful. Before I discovered classes, videos and tradeshows, I was just guessing how to design by trial and error. My designs showed it too. Products were leaning and the bows were frumpy. When I finally found a gift basket class, I was delighted. The teacher began to build a gift basket design from scratch. As I watched her, my confidence grew. I had finally learned how to make the products stand up in the basket and make a pom pom bow. It felt so good to know that I had the basic design skills. There was plenty more to learn over the next 15 years of my business, of course, but it all built on that early foundation. How do you feel about your design skills?
