The second most common question I'm asked is "Where did you get that?"

Finding gifts, gourmet food and supplies is a never-ending challenge for gift basket designers. During my 16 years in the gift industry I have gathered a number of ideas and sources that will help you succeed in your business:

 
 
1. Build a network of fellow designers with whom you can exchange ideas and sources. I've met these colleagues at gift shows and seminars. To learn where the trade shows are near you, go here.

2. Shop wisely at gift and trade shows. Carry a list of key products you need so you won't be distracted by great-sounding products that don't meet your goals. Order products that meet your needs and budget. Avoid impulse buying by collecting catalogs and ordering later. Learn more about shopping a tradeshow here.

3. Save on shipping and time by finding products in and around your state. To learn how, get my CD, "How to Find Products in and Around Your State" where Shirley Frazier and I give you many techniques that have worked for us and others.

4. Get publications and online sources that have already done the legwork for you and give you immediate access to the websites of wholesalers when available. I urge you to get the directories I have created for you. Here are some very good reasons why my directories are worth the investment:

The information in my directories is not available all in one place anywhere else.
Some of the companies listed may have attended only one gift show years ago in California or Chicago, for example, but none since.

Other sources may be small companies that won't come up right away in a Google search.

Then there are some great sources who are old-fashioned and have not set up websites and yet have a wide variety of products you need and with fair prices and fast shipping.

I offer directories specific to your state. So far I've created directories for California, Washington, Texas and New York, but will create one for your state upon your request.
