Creating gift baskets is an exciting career, but like other careers there are some cautions. Here are five things you should never put in your gift baskets.

1. Homemade food
If you decide to produce food for your gift baskets you will need to work in a licensed commercial  kitchen.

2. Repackaged food
No matter how great it might seem to divide a huge bag of Hershey's kisses and place them  into 10 small bags, don't. Not only are there sanitary issues, but your newly created small bags won't have the ingredients labels.

3. Fragrant products and chocolate together
When chocolate is placed in a basket with cologne, fragrant soap or scented candles, it will take on the scent of the accompanying item.

4. Pine cones or greenery from your yard or anyone else's for that matter.
You don't those microscopic inhabitants of pine cones, etc.  joining the food and other products in your design. Stick with artificial enhancements.

5. Wine, beer, liquor or even chocolate filled with liquor.
Unless you  have a license from your state allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages, don't do it. The penalty for violation is severe. Obtaining your license involves an application process and waiting period, and is not available to homebased businesses. Read more about this here.
